Prioritising Mental Health in the Workplace: Introducing EQ8 Recruit's "Me" Mental Health Afternoons
What are "Me" Mental Health Afternoons?
Starting from April 2024, each member of our team will have the opportunity to take a half-day off every month solely dedicated to their mental health and well-being. These afternoons are not meant for catching up on tasks or running errands but are instead designated for relaxation, rejuvenation, and self-care.
Why "Me" Mental Health Afternoons?
Research consistently demonstrates that prioritising mental health leads to increased productivity, creativity, and overall job satisfaction. By introducing "Me" Mental Health Afternoons, at EQ8 Recruit, we aim to create a supportive environment where each team member feels empowered to prioritise their well-being.
Essential Guidelines for "Me" Mental Health Afternoons:
Purposeful "Me" Time: This is a time when EQ8 Recruit encourages our staff to embrace a designated period solely for personal well-being, irrespective of professional or personal obligations.
"Me" Moments: In situations where a half-day off isn't feasible, we encourage our staff to opt for shorter yet meaningful "Me" moments, dedicating an hour or two exclusively to their self-care.
Guilt-Free Approach: At EQ8 Recruit, we recognise that prioritising mental health is paramount and should not be marred by feelings of guilt and we acknowledge the necessity of breaks for recharging and rejuvenation.
Confidentiality and Support: Privacy regarding the rationale behind staff absence for "Me" Afternoons or "Me" Moments is respected and we offer support where needed, fostering a culture of understanding and assistance within the workplace.
Activities for "Me" Mental Health Afternoons:
During these afternoons, we encourage our team members to engage in activities that nourish their soul and bring them joy. Whether it's a walk in nature, a trip to the beach, indulging in a hobby, treating oneself to a spa day, or simply unwinding with a good book, the options are endless.
At EQ8 Recruit, we believe that taking care of one's mental health is just as important as taking care of one's physical health. With "Me" Mental Health Afternoons, we are committed to providing our team members with the time and space they need to prioritise their well-being. Together, let's create workplace cultures where mental health is valued, supported, and nurtured.
